We stumbled on this place while we were looking for another restaurant and it was a lucky accident. This place is unique in atmosphere and our waiter was just perfect and full of enthusiasm. There was a musician performing during dinner who made an impressive amount of good entertainment for one guy. He played the horn and sang. The food was really five star quality. Among our family of five we had two kinds of fish ( both as tasty and fresh as the next), pasta with clams and shrimp, steak and ribs. It was the perfect way to end our first night vacationing in Florida. I highly recommend this place for a great meal with tons of ambience.

An incredible experience.. it's hard to believe that this hidden jewel is in my neck of the woods. My wife and I decided to take advantage of the Miami Spice menu. We had the rack of lamb and 10oz lobster tail. The lamb was unquestionably the best I've ever had, So tender you could cut it with a fork. The flavor was outstanding and the demiglaze was exquisite! My lobster tail was perfectly broiled and dusted with a light seasoning which complimented the natural sweetness of the lobster. And let me knot forget to mention the service, our waiter Ramon was the consummate professional. Cordial, attentive and quite knowledgeable about various cuisines. This place is a must!

This is the best restaurant in north Miami Beach. Food is great and if you like to have a drink after, there is a bar at the backyard and Pool table with great music.

Food was excellent and the wait staff was educated about the best things to order. However, service was juat okay for the price. The location and atmosphere was less than desired based on the price of the food. I would recommend this restaurant for the food only.

So beyond delicious! The place is adorable and the wait staff is just as cute/helpful! Absolutely phenomenal salmon, grouper and chicken parm! :)

Excellent seafood - found this on yelp and what a find! My dad was in the mood for seafood - is leaving for the Middle East tomorrow and so I had to comply. Friday night in Aventura w/ no reservations so we turned to yelp. Thank goodness not so many people know about this place so we were able to easily get a reservation. We had the blue point oysters and lobster crab cake to start. I had the mahi and my parents each had the grouper. Everything was fresh and delicious. Definitely recommend this place and the service was outstanding as well! Enjoy it!

fWe all had a great time and asked for the same waiter. This time we shared the grilled shrimp and grouper with lobster sauce. It was delicious! Our friends had the flying crispy whole snapper and something else that I don't remember. The yuca frita was not as crispy as usual, but everyone was happy with the meal.

Went there on a Monday looking for some good fresh seafood before heading to the movies. I was slightly disappointed based on the rave reviews. The atmosphere was subpar, cool idea, dated execution. It's definitely a 'local' feel, with some sketchy people wandering around. For the most part it seems like everyone knows each other and go for a drink rather than dinner. We ordered the lobster bisque and oysters to start. Which were fine, but pricey for the quality. Shared the scallops for our meal since we didn't feel like shelling out the money for 2 sub-par mains. Overall again, fine, but not worth the price. Our waitress was awesome. But if you go, just go for a drink and bring some bug spray!

Tuna's is a hideway only those who know know. (You have to be in the know with the locals.) While looking for a place to continue the party after the nearby restuarants closed, Tuna's was recommended. Tuna's is a great place to have drinks, food and listen to a live band play. They even have a ping pong, pool and foosball table. :-) Drinks are reasonably priced, their menu is extensive (something for everyone: from hot dogs to the escargot I ordered.) and the staff is friendly. What more can you ask for! This spot is definitely on my list of Friday night stops.

Tuna's menu paired with the Swiss German Chef had me walk into this place with high expectations. The place is a dive... and I don't mean in a good way. More in a "Kitchen Nightmares" kind of way. On Friday night at 7 pm the outside bar was quite busy with a one man cover band playing. The crowd was a bunch of 50 somethings that looked like they should be huntin' gators in the everglades. Or eating squirrels. Or makin' moonshine. You get the picture. The only two things that saved Tuna's from a one star rating were the Filipino bartender who is easy on the eyes and Amy's Apfel Strudel. We'll get to that later. First off, the lobster cakes were dreadful. All bread and you needed a microscope to find any lobster meat in there but decently seasoned. After the appetizer, I waited exactly an hour and no entree. Mind you, I ordered scallops which take 2 minutes to cook. Apparently, they had simply failed to place my order with the kitchen. I finally got my side salad. Even that sucked. Iceberg lettuce roughly chopped up drowning in mayo-based dressing and topped with some shredded carrots, diced eggs and beets. Ewe. The scallops were another disappointment. Instead of 6 rubbery, overcooked jumbo scallops drowning in butter, I'd rather have 3 nicely cooked ones. The vegetable side was two slices of carrot, one broccoli and one cauliflower floret topped with browned butter. Another side were home fries. More butter. A nice gentleman who frequents this place often insisted I try Amy's apple strudel. It was quite good and as a native German I can say it's 100 % authentic. Perhaps they should let her cook instead of waiting tables.

Bartenders are friendly, offer great service, good food. You must try the Rolfe Burger, it's the best burger in town!

I'm prefacing this review with a warning. The waiter we had at Tuna's was pretty darn awful. Right from the beginning our waiter seemed to have a bad attitude. Maybe it's because we chose to sit outside to enjoy the live music and nice weather. Regardless, if a restaurant doesn't feel outside dining patrons are as important to their business as those dining inside or at the bar, then they shouldn't offer outdoor seating. Things Tuna's should work on: - Do not let the door practically hit your customers as you walk them outside to their table - Offer a drink menu when your customers sit down - this is especially helpful when the waiter asks "What would you like to drink?" Maybe I should've just imagined the drink menu...? - Do not leave your customers outside for 10 minutes so that they have to go inside and tell the hostess they've been waiting and would like to have their waiter take their order - Do not make your customers wait 15 minutes before getting them a glass of water With those grievances out of the way, stone crabs are what brought us to Tuna's and I can at the very least say the food was good. The crab legs were a good size (5 come to an order) and they are accompanied with a side house salad and a mix of roasted potatoes and vegetables. I wasn't a fan of the roasted sides because they reminded me too much of catering potatoes and vegetables. Also, they seemed as if they were sitting under a heater before being served. With the other items offered on the menu, I'd figure the sides would have been just as fresh. After we began our meal, service seemed to get a *little* better, but not by much, and not redeeming enough for it to have changed our overall experience. We would have ordered dessert because their options seemed really appealing, but with how slow and inattentive the staff seemed, we decided not to. Honestly I'd like to give Tuna's another try, but certainly not with the same waiter. As other reviewers have stated, Tuna's is a cool hidden spot, which is why we liked the overall ambiance. Apparently this restaurant is doing something right, however, service is certainly not their strong suit.

What a DIVE!...... I love it! I went for happy hour at 4pm when it opened. LUCKY ME, they had a special of stone crab (only reason i went there!) $5 bucks for a large claw! WHAT!.... minimum 3..................NO PROBLEM! i ordered 8. Cheapest price i've seen for stone crab around.... Also indulged in a few other things on their bar menu, blue point oysters, mac n cheeze poppers, sliders.... all priced between 4-8 bucks....what a steal! We ate at the bar outside (i dont think there was any other options to eat inside at that time)......The place is really divey, and looks like a lot of local regulars there hanging out after work.... the beer and oysters/stone crab/even mac n cheeze poppers were perfect! TIP! come for happy hour! I will most definently come back!

We tried Tuna's for Miami Spice week. We loved it. We really really loved our waitress, who was the most upbeat person we have run into in a long time. I got the whole fish and it was super. Everything was yummy. Moscow style oysters, rack of lamb, key lime pie, all good.

Went to tunas on a Saturday night for Miami spice. We did not have a reservation but we were seating no problem and did not have to wait. Our waitress was very nice and bubbly and overall very attentive. We started off with the tuna nachos. They were really good !! Tuna was fresh and the wonton " nachos " were crisp. However , the waitress had told us the dish was spicy Most of the time spicy means a little heat. Be warned this dish is SPICY. After our appetizer we had a palate cleanser dish of mango sorbet and champagne. This was included and was a nice touch and very refreshing ! Our entrees were the seafood fettuccine and my husband had the catch of the day. They were both delicious and filling !!! We also dined to the music of a saxophonists which was beautiful. My only two complains were 1) do not get the key lime pie for dessert. It was not fresh and you can tell the dessert was frozen before... Although my husband got the apple strudle and he said it was fresh and delicious. 2) the bathrooms... The ladies one was broken and I had to use the men's and it was pretty filthy.. I was pretty disgusted with it.. Overall the food was excellent and the miami spice menu was really worth it !! An amazing deal

Service- was ok once we ordered our meal we never saw our waiter again, so much for the second drink. But he was a nice guy. Food- my wife got the Mahi which she thought was very good. My son 10 yrs old got the fettuccini Alfredo which he also loved. I had the grouper which had a very fishy taste and was extremely salty. I could feel my blood pressure going up. Bathrooms- the men's was disgusting for a place that claims to be a fine dining establishment. If you come here for the bar it's probably a great place however avoid it if your looking for a great dining experience.

Weird location, decent food, horrible service. Only thing that was worthwhile was rare tuna steak. Food all came out at different times. Skip it.

We arrived about 7 PM on a Sunday night. Reservations weren't needed as the place was less than half filled. We were seated in a booth underneath a large TV monitor which had a looping and blurry video of a salt water tank. Lame. The waitress was very nice and bubbly as others have mentioned. Too bad she forgot to give me the second cup of coffee I requested. The service was very slow. My wife had two 6 ounce lobster tails. The meat was expensive ($42), tough, rubbery, tasteless and difficult to eat. We suspected the lobster was reheated in their microwave. One of the worst lobster dinners we have ever experienced. I had some broiled scallops. They were quite good. No problems there. And the chef's salad was excellent. The apple strudel, as others have mentioned was delicious. We got ours as a free dessert after we complained about the lobster. Needless to say we did not give the minimum requested tip of 18%.

Good food... Somewhat pricey... Nice ambience... We went we beach clothes and felt comfortable. Some people were semi dressy. Mosquitoes in the outside sitting since next to the river. Staff and servers offered repellent :) Pool table, bar, live music and other games for entertainment. Nice wine list!

Tuna's Seafood restaurant is a unique place to visit. It located away from the main road giving it relaxing place to eat. The place it small but cozy. The staff is friendly and upbeat. I went for Miami Spice and I wasn't disappointed. The food was fresh and flavorful. I had the oyster Rockefeller which were amazing. Wish it had 6 oyster instead of 4 but still satisfying. After our appetizer we got a mango sorbet with champagne to clean our pallet which was a wonderful touch (the little things are that matter). Our entrée was the Florida lobster tail and it was cook just right. Overall the place was a wonderful experience and would definitely would recommend you to try it out for yourself.

Tuna's is in my opinion one of the best restaurants in South FL, and, based on all my experiences, the food and service at Tuna's have always been outstanding. I highly recommend numerous entrees (mahi mahi marianne, veal oscar, twin lobster tails, and so many others), and the house salad and lobster bisque are always excellent too. Since Tuna's is somewhat removed from busy Biscayne Boulevard, its location (within the old Beverly Hills Cafe plaza) is quieter and more private and there is always ample parking. Amy, Ramon, and everyone else always create a very festive and fun atmosphere and an amazing jazz and blues singer/performer is there on select weekend nights. Whether for dinner or late-night drinks or dessert, it's a perfect place for a delicious meal while enjoying a friendly and highly personable ambiance......

The food is good overall but the service is terrible. When I arrived, the ambiance seemed amazing, definitely the hidden gem people talk about, trees, relaxed patio bar, it all seemed fine. Until...the bartender tricks people into buying drinks by not specifying the price of such, the company definitely needs to train their employees better or at least teach them how to look into the computer and provide customers real pricing on their items. After having a problem with the bartender I asked to talk to the manager on duty and that was even worse, he gave us an attitude and even said to us: "I don't mind if you never come back"...how do you say that to a customer??? Good luck to Tuna's...what seemed to be a place with amazing potential, sadly does not know how to recruit and will eventually disappear along with so many other Miami businesses.

Amazing happy hour specials. The menu is fantastic and I was so happy with my meal off the winter fest menu that I asked to meet the chef! The best Chateaubriand I've ever had and in such an amazing atmosphere. Amazing patio area.

Hadn't realized this restaurant relocated from Biscayne to Dixie Hwy several years ago under new ownership and new chef. Happened upon it (thx to yelp) when I was in the mood for seafood and needed something that was open late. What a nice surprise! It's in a tucked away little area. Great quality fresh seafood, with a variety of fish specials of the day. We tried the Bahamian conch salad, escargot, conch chowder, and cioppino. Everything was delicious! And our server Amy was so sweet. We had an enjoyable experience and will definitely be back soon!
